VOLUNTEER AND INTERNSHIPS

 

VOLUNTEER

 

Even Ground offers a variety of interesting ways to connect with our mission, a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and recognition in our reports.  We are looking for volunteers in the following categories: general administrative support, communications and social media, photography, event planning, and project liaision. All our volunteers should be passionate about our mission, have a great sense of humor, and be detailed focused. (Note: you must be at least 21 years of age to assist with Even Ground events).

 

Volunteer Opportunities

 

- Annual Cocktail Party - this event occurs every fall in New York. EG needs support with:

 

         - Day of Event - help with registration, guest directions and auction table. 

         - Event Preparation (fleixble hours) - develop and solicit creative auction items, general office help, promotional and online assistance. 

 

- Other fundraising events - typically held in NYC, Boston, LA and San Francisco throughout the year

 

 

 

 

 

INTERNSHIPS

 

Even Ground is seeking interns who will help expand its work in the U.S. to benefit Southern African dynamic social entrepreneurs to empower communities through education, health care, and nutrition. Even Ground is looking for interns to work out of New York City.   Applicants should be motivated, independent, detailed oriented, creative and available to work a minimum of 10 hours a week for 9 -12 months. This is a non-paid internship. We accept interns who receive academic credit for their internship.

 

Education/Experience Required

·       Recent College graduate, Graduate student, or junior /senior undergraduates

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office

·       Field of Study: Communications, Development Studies, Education, Law, Economics, International Affairs and Public Policy are most strongly considered

·       G.P.A. of 2.8 or higher required

 

Primary Internship Tracks

 

RESEARCH/STRATEGY

·       Research assignments and summarizing media coverage on social investing, non-profits, and education policy in Southern Africa.  

·       Research on social impact investing models and best practices

·       Assisting with reports and publication content          

·       Administrative duties pertaining to research

·       Preparation of research and strategy materials for board review

·       Assist with development and update of investment model

 

COMMUNICATIONS

·       Updating media organizations’ contact information

·       Press releases

·       Facebook site manager

·       Coordination, management of photographs and other materials for publications

·       Assist with newsletter publication

·       Administrative duties pertaining to communication

·       Organizing information about Even Ground’s African partner projects

 

DEVELOPMENT/EVENTS

·       Responsibilities include supporting all areas of Even Ground’s fundraising efforts, with an emphasis on events

·       Coordinate mail campaigns for the annual gala and individual giving

·       Prepare cultivation events

·       Research prospective individual, foundation and corporate funders

·       Maintain development files and guest lists

·       Carry out other special projects as needed, including direct assistance to the director of development

·       Work on special events with premium volunteer opportunities for the annual party and other events and parties. Journalism, media relations or event planning experience is a plus but not required.
